COVID-19 anxiety is palpable. Even if you weren’t feeling it before, as more and more necessary closures happen, you can’t help but feel smaller, more isolated, more closed off.

A dear, old friend Chris-Anne Donnelly, reached out to me last week to talk about a phenomenon recently that had many people waking up between 2am and 5am, unable to get back to sleep.

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) clock perspective, these wake-ups are happening during Liver and Lung organ times, the two organs responsible for (and responsive to) stress and immunity. Given the current energy of uncertainty around the Coronavirus, this isn’t surprising in the least.

Spring is usually the time for expansion, new growth, for us to come out of hibernation. But with health concerns rising in the world right now, our collective energy is contracting and stagnating – we’re all waiting, on hold, in dis-ease.
